Trump-Zelenskyy squabble puts future of US-Ukraine critical minerals deal in jeopardy

Diplomacy devolved into a dramatic and heated exchange at the White House Friday between U.S. President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance and their guest, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The trio met to nail down a framework which would grant the U.S. access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals. And in front of cameras, for more than half an hour, all was cordial, but when Zelenskyy asked about “diplomacy” with Russia to end the war in Ukraine, the meeting went off the rails.
