Police have charged a 30-year-old man with impaired driving on Thursday after an off-road vehicle struck a dog in April in Blackstock, a town east of Port Perry.
Durham Regional Police said officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Church Street on April 23 around 8:40 p.m. They said the driver of an off-road motorcycle lost control and hit a dog. The animal died at the scene, according to police, and the driver suffered a serious head injury.
The driver was then airlifted to a trauma centre in Toronto for treatment.
A suspect was arrested at his home on June 23.
