3 men stabbed, 1 shot, in violent incidents overnight

Toronto’s downtown core was recovering from a violent night after a man was shot and three others were stabbed during separate incidents.

Toronto police responded to reports that a man with a gun had been spotted in a condominium on Queens Quay, near Lower Simcoe Street, early Friday night. Police arrived at the condo to find one man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

A concierge had attempted to detain the suspect until police arrived, but the man ran from the building and fled. Police said the suspect was later arrested after crashing a motorcycle while trying to flee the scene.

Police said the incident occurred after the victim and suspect, who are known each to each other, returned to the condo after a night out. The pair allegedly got into an argument, which culminated with one man shooting the other.

The victim was taken to St. Michael’s Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Three men stabbed

Three men were also rushed to hospital overnight after being stabbed during a confrontation with another group in Toronto’s entertainment district.

The incident happened in a side street that runs off Duncan Street between Richmond and Adelaide streets at about 2:30 a.m.

Police say the men received non-life-threatening stab wounds during a confrontation with a group of about four people. The victims were taken to hospital and are receiving treatment.

Police continue to investigate the incident and say they are searching for four suspects described as Asian males in their 20s.
