Freeland admits Canada’s immigration system has seen ‘some abuses’ with international students, temporary foreign workers

Speaking in Toronto on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said that the “great thing about Canada” was how welcoming to immigration it was, but that there have been “some abuses to the system.” Giving examples of international students and temporary foreign workers going through “abuse,” Freeland said it was important to have Canadian immigration be “socially and economically sustainable.”
