Man, 68, arrested following crash in Scarborough

A 68-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal collision between a car and a motorcycle in Scarborough Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ellesmere and Kingston Roads. Police say a 34-year-old motorcyclist has died of his injuries.

According to police, the motorcycle was travelling east on Kingston Road when it struck the back of a vehicle as it was making a left-hand turn. The motorcyclist was thrown onto the road, where he was struck by another vehicle.

Police said the driver of the first vehicle, a burgundy-coloured Pontiac van, fled the scene.

Kingston Road was temporarily closed from Meadowvale to Ellesmere Roads as police investigated the crash.
