Durham police confirm a male motorcyclist has died after a crash late Thursday night in Ajax.
Police say they received the call around 10:40 p.m. in the Salem Road and Rossland Road area after a motorcycle and SUV collided.
The 22-year-old motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to a Toronto trauma centre but eventually succumbed to his injuries, according to police.
Witnesses reported seeing the motorcycle travelling north on Salem Road North when it collided with the SUV travelling east.
The force of the collision caused the SUV to roll over and the driver was injured, police say.
The road was closed for several hours as the Collision Investigation Unit investigated.
