Man faces charges after police say noisy homemade motorbike fled officer

OSHAWA, Ont. — Durham Region police say a man riding a noisy homemade motorcycle on an Oshawa sidewalk led an officer on a chase after he tried to pull the machine over.

Police say the officer spotted a man driving a small and extremely loud, homemade chopper-style motorcycle on a city sidewalk Tuesday afternoon.

It’s alleged that when the officer tried to pull the motorcycle over, the rider evaded the officer and drove onto a bike path along a creek.

The officer followed but soon stopped his vehicle when he saw pedestrians on the path.

Police say the suspect and the motorcycle were later located at a residence and the bike was impounded.

Vincent Lynch, 43, of Oshawa, is charged with flight from police, failing to comply with probation, operating a vehicle with no insurance and driving while under suspension.
