One person has died after the driver of a vehicle and a motorcyclist collided on Sunday afternoon in Brampton.
The crash happened near Hurontario Street and Wanless Drive, which is north of Sandalwood Parkway.
Peel Regional Police said that they were called to that area shortly before 3 p.m.
Speaking with the media at the scene, Const. Tyler Bell-Morena said that a motorcyclist was travelling southbound on Hurontario when they collided with a silver Honda, whose driver was heading northbound on Hurontario and had turned left into a plaza.
“The sequence of events, what led to the collision, whether or not speed is a factor, is going to be part of the ongoing investigation,” he said, adding at this point there’s no word on charges.
Police, in a post on X, said that an adult male was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following the crash.
The victim, who was operating the motorcycle, was later pronounced dead. He is a man in his 50s, police said.
The driver of the vehicle, meanwhile, remained at the scene.
The intersection of Hurontario and Wanless is closed as police investigate and drivers are being advised to use alternate routes.
“You can anticipate the roads to be closed well into this evening as we process the scene,” Bell-Morena said.
Peel Regional Police’s major collision bureau is investigating.
