Officials are urging caution for the Ohio community of East Palestine on Monday after the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency sent a letter advising that four chemicals that were in the Norfolk Southern train that derailed last week are considered dangerous. In addition to vinyl chloride, which was already known to have been in the train, three others were also in the train including one that can cause burning and irritation to the skin, and another to cause shortness of breath. Those in the East Palestine area, where the incident happened, are being advised to get a health check-up so they’ll have a health record of any effects possibly related to the controlled toxic gas release.
