The Special Investigations Unit has been called in after a motorcycle fled police and smashed into another vehicle in Scarborough Monday night.
Ontario Provincial Police attempted to pull over the motorcycle on Highway 401 near McCowan Road at around 11:45 p.m., but the driver sped away and a pursuit was initiated.
The motorcycle then continued onto Kennedy Road where Toronto police joined the chase.
The motorcycle then smashed into the rear of a vehicle on Kennedy Road near St. Clair Avenue a short time later, according to police.
The 23-year-old driver was arrested and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The SIU is an arm’s-length agency called in to investigate whenever someone is seriously hurt or killed while interacting with police.
