SIU investigating two-vehicle collision involving Niagara police officer in Brampton

TORONTO –

The province’s police watchdog has been called to investigate a collision involving a Niagara police officer in Brampton Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Kennedy Road and Bovaird Drive just before 1 p.m. for a crash.

The Special Investigations Unit said Niagara police were conducting an investigation when an unmarked police car collided with a motorcycle.

The SIU said the motorcyclist was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

Two investigators, two forensic investigators and a collision reconstructionist have been assigned to the case.

The SIU investigates incidents involving police where there has been death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm.
