MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash near Guelph that police say happened after the rider sped away from an officer.
The Special Investigations Unit says three motorcycles went through a radar check in Guelph on Sunday afternoon.
Provincial police say the motorcycles sped away from an officer, and one of them hit a car at the intersection of Highway 6 and Wellington Road 34.
The rider, a 30-year-old man from Milton, was taken to Hamilton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The SIU says he died Sunday night and an autopsy was conducted this morning.
Investigators want to hear from anyone with information.
